Basic Marketing Concepts!

With more than 40 years of marketing experience, I have seen my share of success stories as well as many failures. For three decades I have taught people how to sell their products and services, by sharing informative information regarding what to expect in this ever changing world of marketing .

After retirement, I became involved with the internet aspect of this marketing process. I knew nothing about the working parts of the computer, and I still don’t, however, I do know how to promote a product or service on the internet, and earn page one ranking positions with the search engines for my clients. The term, Top Positions on Google, is more than just a saying, it can, and has become a reality for me.

The art and science of online marketing is more perplexing than it used to be. However, many of the principles once used in effective marketing, still apply today. By overlooking the basic fundamentals of marketing, may make the difference between failure and success in many cases.

Successful marketing campaigns, is the result of the marketer not only knowing their product or service, but, knowing their target audience as well. By knowing how these two factors work together, you can be laser focused in all of your marketing endeavors. Once you understand this concept you will become profitable almost immediately.

The offer of a good product or service is the main ingredient for a successful marketing campaign. Having what the consumer likes, wants and needs, is the formula for a successful conversion rate into a sale. You must know your product or service forward and backward, and you must be able to be flexible, when a special need arises during your presentation.

Believing in your product is extremely important. If you don’t believe in your product, enough to purchase the product yourself, how are you going to convince the client they need to buy what your selling. Consider purchasing a competitors product and running a comparison test on the two like items. This will give you confidence, that you are absolutely convinced, without a shadow of a doubt, your product is the best solution for your customer. You’re not going to convince everyone to purchase the item your selling, however, you will build a repport with your prospects, who may refer you to some serious buyers.

If you’re fortunate to find other creative people to work with you….this can be a tremendous asset to your success. Some of my best sales have came from a idea, that was shared in a meeting with some of my collegues. Once the idea was on the table for discussion, the pieces all started to fall into place and a solution was born. Not all the people in the meeting, got the concept or did anything with the idea, because they did’nt pursue the information discussed. Always keep a open mind, for new ideas.

The price of your product or service may become an issue. However, if you’re well informed about your opportunity, you can present the client with the features and benefits of your product or services. Never bad mouth you competition. People will pick up on your negative comments and it will kill the sale quickly. By knowing your competition, you can present an informative comparison of the two products, then the client can make an informed choice. Hopefully, the decision will be in your favor. Don’t sell price, sell value, as the benefits apply to the prospect. Price will then become a non issue.

Don’t become closed minded and assume your way is the only way. Test your product, service and presentation, and make changes as needed to become the very best you can be. Then, after the sale, follow up and keep in touch with your clients, building a relationship, and trust with those clients. Your retention figures will then stay much higher, than if you make the sale and disappear. This is creating value after the sale.

Experience is something that can not be replaced. You can hire the best professionals, money can buy, however, nothing will replace actual experience. Experience comes by doing, doing it again, and redoing until you get it right. Go Luck in your marketing efforts.
